It Takes Two to Talk® — The Hanen Program® for Parents of Children with Language Delays

The It Takes Two to Talk Program is designed specifically for parents of young children (birth to 5 years of age) who have been identified as having a language delay. Parents learn practical strategies to help their children learn language naturally throughout their day together.
It Takes Two to Talk has three objectives:
  • Parent education- parents learn some essential concepts of expressive and receptive language development and functional use
  • Early language intervention- parents learn how to incorporate a variety of strategies in a natural setting to facilitate language.
  • Social support - parents and facilitators provide each other with support, experience, ideas and true empathy through the journey.

What is the Interactive Metronome?

The IM is a therapeutic program designed to improve attention, concentration, motor planning and sequencing for adults and children.
NJ STEPS offers a new therapy to improve speech/communication, coordination and learning, in adults and children suffering from a number of conditions including ADHD and Autism, as well as the physical effects of stroke and Parkinson’s. Interactive Metronome® (IM) is a computer-based technology that encourages users to match the computer’s rhythm, thereby improving their internal sense of timing, An increasing amount of scientific evidence demonstrates that the brain’s internal clock is integral in the development and maintenance of many cognitive, behavioral, social and motor skills.
